The 13th edition of Miss Philippines-Earth ushers another year of caring for and saving the environment with a new batch of outstanding young ladies from all over the nation and Filipino communities abroad vying for the prestigious crown that symbolizes beauty and responsibility.
Fourty Eight (48) captivating candidates were presented to the members of the media at the poolside of F1 Hotel Manila in the heart of The Fort BGC, Taguig City, and each one proudly representing her hometown and expressing her environmental advocacy. The official candidates were fielded from screenings held in SM Malls in Metro Manila and key provincial cities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
In keeping with the tradition of adopting the environment movement, this year’s pageant theme celebrates the United Nation’s declaration 2013 as the International Year of Water Cooperation, Carousel Productions, Inc. CPI President Ramon S. Monzon stated that this year’s theme is very relevant to the country, where issues concerning water management are often neglected.
“ We have seen all the ill effects of water shortage in other countries and we don’t want that to happen in the Philippines”, said Mr. Monzon. “For 2013, The Ms. Philippines-Earth Candidates will focus their campaign on promoting ways to make clean water accessible to more people and on how we can preserve our water resources for a sustainable future.”
As the competition heat’s up the candidates are expected to showcase their best at all times as they will once again rewarded with points from different challenges that are part of their activities. In addition, the candidates will also be supporting the campaign for clean elections since the day leading the coronation nights coincides with the local election campaign period. They will encourage voters to consider electing leaders who will take measures to ensure a cleaner environment.
The most awaited grand coronation will bake place on May 19, Sunday , at the SM Mall of Asia Arena and will be telecast live on ABS-CBN at 10:30 pm . Ms. Lorraine E. Schuck- CPI Executive Vice President, who also oversees the TV production aspect of the pageant, hinted that this year’s presentation will be something to look forward to.
““This year’s pageant night will be another first in history of Miss Philippines-Earth,”Ms. Schuck enthused. Audiences will be treated to a visual treat and , of course the excitement of finding out who the next environmental ambassadress will be”.
The new Ms. Philippines Earth will inherit the crown from outgoing queen and Miss Earth-Air 2012 Stephany Stefanowifz, and will represent the country in the prestigious Ms. Earth pageant later this year.
