July 17, 2014, Day after the aftermath typhoon has passed through Metro Manila, the SM group signs a contract with Michael Martinez for monetary support in his goal to make it to the 2018 Winter Olympics.
This boy has been a blessing to our country and a symbol of hope to all who passed through the anger of a typhoon since his last won victory was before the Super typhoon we have had, says Ms. Nicole Deato , SAVP Education and Leisure Center.
Michael Martinez, who had discovered his love for skating at a very early age, honed his skills at the SM Skating Rink. He had joined international competitions such as those developed by the International Skating Institute and the International Skating Union, but his efforts have recently been noticed the Public as the only Filipino representative at the Winter Olympics 2014.
To further develop his talent, SM Prime Holdings , SM Lifestyle Entertainment ., Inc. and the SM Foundation teamed up to provide Martinez monetary support for his training and needs for skating.
The contract signing of Michael Martinez and SM was timely as He will be leaving tomorrow for the 2014 United States to train in preparation of the Hilton HHonors Skate America to be held in Chicago Illinois in October 22-26. Michael was one of the selected few invited by the organizing committee of the Hilton Hhonors to compete in the prestigious event. Only World Top Rating skaters, which Martinez ranks 27th, are requested to attend the competition.
