Panalo kay Haresco
“Practice what you preach”, and “Teach
people to fish rather than giving them fish to eat.” It’s what best describes
with Aklan representative Teodorico 'Nonong' Haresco Jr. Few people today especially
politicians have this kind of notion in life but instead, a lot of failed
promises and life of in-consistencies was being displayed in their next 6 years
of their terms.
Having said this, a
person in power should not be perfect because nobody can attain it anyway but
should be in a little way does what he intends and what he knows should be
right within his conscience right before his people and God.
Their life as a middle class family earning
just enough for a daily living, which leads him to sell prawns with a little
amount that he loans from his relative and later on meet his educational and
personal needs . That’s why through this lessons he was very optimistic and
bold enough to tell his constituents that they can attain certain things in
life even in a small and little steps . He calls it micro entrepreneurial
management.
Because after finishing college his determination in business develops his little startup into a huge 50
hectare prawn farming ventures in his hometown of Ibajay, Aklan and find
himself catering to big restaurants and literally big names in the Metro.
After His masteral, He participated in the U.N. Conference on
Trade and Development International Trade Center in Switzerland which leads to exporting local capiz shells
to the European country.
As a Congressman he passed bills such as
authorized and co-authorized more than 60 house measures including HB00111, an
act establishing a mechanism for the development of the island Boracay; HB00115
, an act increasing the bed capacity of Ibajay District Hospital from 25 to
100; HB02239, an act granting Php 1,000.00 monthly by way of financial
assistance for the Centenarians; HB02240, an act exempting the users of
Electronic Vehicles from the payment of Road users tax; HB02241, an act to
prescribe nutrition labeling for food products; HB02323, an act granting
PHP500.00 monthly allowance to Barangay Tanods; HB02414, an act amending
Section 5 of Republic Act No. 10121 otherwise known as an act strengthening the
Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management system; HB02415, an act to
combat abuse and increase penalties for crime against Senior Citizens; HB03192 an act providing the establishment of
Barangay Drugstore otherwise known as “Botika sa Barangay”;HB08366, an act penalizing
competitive agreement, abuse of dominant position, and competitive mergers, establishing Phil Fair
Competition Commission ; HB03776, an act empowering micro small , medium
enterprises and HB04335 an act requiring mandatory installations of CCTV cameras
on major roads , including the routes of PUV’s . Furthermore, he conceptualized
the President’s Bridge programme as a parallel intervention to popular
government infrastructure program.
With these bunch of so called humanitarian
and progressive bills will make us understand why we still need to have this
kind of people serving in the government for the sake of his constituents , people and country.
