100 Years of celebrating one's works embodying our Tradition , Culture ,and Heritage

Last Tuesday February 19, 2019, held at SM Aura Taguig  launched the 100 years of the King of Komiks Francisco V. Coching .

Before the great minds of Spieldberg, we have our own King of the Komiks Francisco V. Coching born on January 29, 1919 acknowledge as the Dean of Illustrators and Son of the Noted Tagalog Novelists and comics Illustrators  Gregorio Coching who was a master story teller in images and in print..

Admittedly he surpasses his father and does continues the work of his father and become the  National Artist for Visual Arts  which was only awarded last 2014,  , Francisco V. Coching ,recognizes  for giving form, in words and artwork, to the complex mix of mythology romance, human drama, legends and heroes that somehow developed the visual consciousness of the ordinary Filipinos from the 1940's up to his retirement in 1973.

He mesmerized readers with his ink and brush drawings. Fine fluid lines, dramatic compositions and unusual perspective are the Hallmark of Coching artworks. He was a master storyteller who created plots simmering with action, adventures and fantasy.

Almost all of his sixty some serialized novels were made into popular movies. It is believe that Coching's komiks helped promote the national language in the country.

He succeeded in bridging the gap between line art and popular art . He initiated aspiring artist into comics illustration which in fact his style is still being emulated by countless artist in contemporary art, painting and animation..
