They further believe that a special blessing was with them, having this kind of special people during and after they give much love and dedication for them.

It is proven that most of the Down Syndrome children has one gifted qualities in terms of works and individual passion they have for life, that is why we need to help them discover their capabilities and their joy on the field they may want to grow and enjoy.

I personally enjoyed every part of the arts being displayed in the entire floor , and I just can't help but take a picture of everything that is in there.  The picture above shows how I was being caught by Estancias page taking shots almost on every details of the works the artists displayed .

This is one of the best group of arts collections and best artist participation I have seen in my entire on-line presence.

Now on its second year, the exhibit continues to put its effort towards establishing Estancia as the art hub of Ortigas. This year’s  approach brought individual artists in the spotlight, showcasing their  creative individually and placing them at the forefront of the art scene.

It was the idea of Renato Habulan , renowned social realist painter, to tap the various group of artist from all over the country  and give them a venue to exhibit their works. Ortigas Malls was receptive to the idea of promoting grassroots participation in the art scene. No gallery representation, just artists working together, no admission charge to the viewers and can walk through the art for free.

Among the featured artist is master engraver Benjie Torrado Cabrera, the only engraver in the country specializing in this laborious, centuries old medium. His works which are complex in  details, are inspired by his interest in cosmology with geometric shapes and spheres that signify the universe.
Another one to look out for is Darwin ‘Japat” Guevarra, a self-taught artist inspired by the works of masters and his peers, showcases works that reflects his concepts of life and social realism, expressed though his mastery of the paintbrush, sculpting, photography and experimenting with scrap and molded materials.

Also in the spotlight is photographer Bern Wong, with her camera that has captured the most moving meditative with breathtaking landscapes who has seen encountered in here travels. Her works express the minimal abstract, and even the surreal aspects of places she visits.

Make sure to check out the works of Richard Buxani, an architect who has since harnessed his talent to create sculptures made out of metal inspired by Ronald Castrillo Richard.discovered a natural fondness for bending,  crafting, cutting, welding and molding materials, whch will be showcased at the art festival.

To create a more interactive and immersive art experience, various activities are lined up which visitors can join for free.  This coming February 23 master engraver Benjamin Cabrera shows his prowess in Print Making. He succeeded in bridging the gap between line art and popular art . He initiated aspiring artist into comics illustration which in fact his style is still being emulated by countless artist in contemporary art, painting and animation..

Old saying still Rocks

Panalo kay Haresco

“Practice what you preach”, and “Teach people to fish rather than giving them fish to eat.” It’s what best describes with Aklan representative Teodorico 'Nonong' Haresco Jr.  Few people today especially politicians have this kind of notion in life but instead, a lot of failed promises and life of in-consistencies was being displayed in their next 6 years of their terms.

Having said this, a person in power should not be perfect because nobody can attain it anyway but should be in a little way does what he intends and what he knows should be right within his conscience right before his people and God.

Their life as a middle class family earning just enough for a daily living,  which leads him to sell prawns with a little amount that he loans from his relative and later on meet his educational and personal needs . That’s why through this lessons he was very optimistic and bold enough to tell his constituents that they can attain certain things in life even in a small and little steps . He calls it micro entrepreneurial management.

Because after finishing college his determination in business develops his little startup into a huge 50 hectare prawn farming ventures in his hometown of Ibajay, Aklan and find himself catering to big restaurants and literally big names in the Metro.

After His masteral, He participated in the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development International Trade Center in Switzerland  which leads to exporting local capiz shells to the European country.

As a Congressman he passed bills such as authorized and co-authorized more than 60 house measures including HB00111, an act establishing a mechanism for the development of the island Boracay; HB00115 , an act increasing the bed capacity of Ibajay District Hospital from 25 to 100; HB02239, an act granting Php 1,000.00 monthly by way of financial assistance for the Centenarians; HB02240, an act exempting the users of Electronic Vehicles from the payment of Road users tax; HB02241, an act to prescribe nutrition labeling for food products; HB02323, an act granting PHP500.00 monthly allowance to Barangay Tanods; HB02414, an act amending Section 5 of Republic Act No. 10121 otherwise known as an act strengthening the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management system; HB02415, an act to combat abuse and increase penalties for crime against Senior Citizens;  HB03192 an act providing the establishment of Barangay Drugstore otherwise known as “Botika sa Barangay”;HB08366, an act penalizing competitive agreement, abuse of dominant position, and  competitive mergers, establishing Phil Fair Competition Commission ; HB03776, an act empowering micro small , medium enterprises and HB04335 an act requiring mandatory installations of CCTV cameras on major roads , including the routes of PUV’s . Furthermore, he conceptualized the President’s Bridge programme as a parallel intervention to popular government infrastructure program.

With these bunch of so called humanitarian and progressive bills will make us understand why we still need to have this kind of people serving in the government for the sake of his constituents , people and country.

8990 announces P2 billion share buyback progra m

8990 Holdings, listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange under the symbol “HOUSE” and one of the fastest growing real estate developers in the Philippines, announced that its board of directors approved a P2 billion share buyback program that excludes the company’s majority shareholders from participating in the program.

“Our share buyback program reflects the board’s confidence in our financial performance and commitment to increasing shareholder value while maintaining the liquidity of 8990’s stock in the market as well as public ownership requirements,” said 8990 Holdings president and chief executive officer Willie J. Uy. “The exclusion of shareholders with controlling stakes in the company underlines 8990’s commitment to providing true shareholder value.”

8990’s board of directors authorized the repurchase of up to P2 billion of the company’s common stock. The purchases may be up to 18 months from the approval unless the period is otherwise shortened by the board of directors. The purchases will depend on market conditions and subject to regulatory considerations. Controlling shareholders such as iHoldings and Kwantlen Development Corporation, which own a combined 61.88 percent stake in 8990 Holdings, voluntarily offered not to participate in the repurchase program as an act of good faith to its existing shareholders.

Under the program, share buyback transactions will be triggered in cases the company feels the shares are “substantially undervalued,” there is high share price volatility or that the buyback would enhance shareholder value.

“We plan to repurchase shares using cash and book as treasury. We assure our shareholders that the implementation of the program will not affect any of 8990’s prospective and existing projects and investments,” noted Uy.

8990 aims to be one of the Philippines’ top real estate developers. Its landbank of close to 540 hectares is projected to deliver approximately P154 billion in sales in the next eight to ten years.

For 2019, 8990 is guiding a 17 percent year-on-year growth on its topline from P11.5 billion to P13.5 billion by the end of the year.

8990 Holdings, through its DECA brand, has completed more than 50,000 units over the past 14 years nationwide. Its projects in Luzon, particularly Urban Deca Homes Manila in Tondo, is expected to generate close to 50 percent of 8990’s 2019 revenue target of P13.5 billion which is seen to translate to P5.2 billion in net income.

Minute to Own It

Home Credit Philippines announces one minute approval for loan applications

What can you do in a minute? Type a text? Lock the door? Browse the TV for a good channel? A minute is something we commonly associate with doing mundane tasks—but would you believe that this same timeframe is how long it also takes for you to know if you can have a new mobile phone or laptop?

This is what Home Credit Philippines (HCPH) promises with its one minute approval for applications. From ten minutes, the Prague-based consumer finance company has reached another breakthrough with its near-instant approval time.

“We are a business that wants to improve consumers’ lives by giving them more purchasing flexibility and good experience while enjoying their shopping options,” says Franchette Cardona, Chief Marketing and Product Officer of HCPH. “Imagine wanting a phone or a household appliance and only waiting a minute to know if you can take it home or not. We want to change the way Filipinos shop and we do it by constantly fine-tuning our processes.”

The company has come a long way since it opened shop in the country in 2013 with its products and the ways they offer them. Starting at 20 minutes of approval time, HCPH was able to shorten it to ten minutes, and now to one minute. According to Cardona, this is proof of their dedication to keep up with the constantly changing consumer expectations when it comes to shopping.

“One of the thrusts of Home Credit Philippines is to reach Filipinos who are not usually catered by traditional financial institutions. Usually, this market has the misconception that it is complicated to get a loan. We try to change that in every aspect of our business model, from only asking two ID’s and now to just shortening our approval time to one minute. We are all about ease and access,” explains Cardona.

Using technology to improve lives

Technology plays a big role in HCPH’s business model. It powers every aspect of its processes, from its now paperless transactions to its near-instant approval. The company is also continuously working on its mobile app to give consumers an easier time to manage their loans.

“We empower consumers by giving them financing options they can use to help improve their lives—and we do it using technology. We want to remove the limits that traditional financial institutions have by offering the market financial products that aren’t usually available to them, in ways they aren’t usually offered,” says Cardona.

She continues, “We want to drive the message that enjoying financial products shouldn’t be complicated. It can actually be as fast as one minute.”

To enjoy Home Credit Philippines’ products, simply visit one of their partner stores, approach their sales associate, and submit two (2) valid IDs. Your one minute starts after you fill up and submit your application form. Taking home a new product has never been that easy and fast. Happy shopping!

JUXTA:POSITION , A Tribal collection of Cordillera Region in the Philippines launch

Last Monday, February 11, 2019 only then I realized that we have not kept all our heritage and really known our culture  because of the colonization we have had from the Spaniards and even the Americans. By having seen this authentic sculptured Ifugaos and their primitive food storage  and furniture we can prove of the richness of artist we have since the ancient times.

For the first time in the Philippines, an impressive collection of traditional Cordillera pieces will be seen in public alongside artworks by 20th and 21st-century Filipino abstract artists. Owned by Hong Kong-based AsianArt:Future (AA:F), which is chaired by Swiss Martin Kurer, some of the collection will be on display at 1335Mabini in Karrivin Plaza, Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati, from February 16 to March 2, 2019.

Aptly titled “JUXTA:POSITION”, the exhibition comes as a result of Kurer’s particular interest in the universal and widespread use of the aesthetics of reduction, something present he says in the carved wooden figures or bulul, which are closely associated with the Ifugao peoples of Northern Luzon.

A three-part book, JUXTA:POSITION (The Aesthetics of Reduction), will be made available to the public. In it, Kurer goes into greater detail on the aestheticism of the carvings of the Cordillera peoples, which he says can also be perceived and described utilizing an artistic vocabulary similar to the one of the Abstract Art movement. The second and third parts highlight the bululs, boxes, kinahu, and spoons of the Cordillera peoples, mostly from the 19th century and earlier, and a number of abstract paintings from Filipino artists, as photographed by At Maculangan of Pioneer Studios, Manila.

Similar exhibitions have been done before by the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 1988 and accompanied by William Rubin’s catalogue “The Primitivism of Modern Art”, and in 2009 at Fondation Beyeler in Riehen/Basel titled “Visual Encounters, Africa, Oceanic, and Modern Art”, which showed tribal masterpieces alongside works of Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, Vassily Kandisnky, Rousseau, Constantin Brancusi, Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Mark Rothko.
More recently, the exhibition of Les Collections Barbier-Muller “100 Years of Passion” showed tribal art pieces from Africa and Oceania in the context of contemporary art of Baselitz, Jeff Koons, and others.

“I am not looking at the use of these aesthetic principles from a scholarly point of view,” Kurer says. “Rather, I look at pieces of art from different backgrounds and periods, and attempt to search some aesthetic interaction or connection among them.”

Each bulul, a box or bowl from AsianArt:Future’s collection, most of which were gathered from oldcollections, assembled in the last century, will be shown with a corresponding artwork from José Joya, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, H.R. Ocampo, Lee Aguinaldo, Cesar Legaspi, Arturo Luz, Fernando Zóbel, Lao Lianben, and Gus Albor, who created a painting specifically for the exhibition.

Kurer invites the audience to look at the partnered pieces and perhaps spark a dialogue on the aesthetic vocabulary of the two genres of artistic creation, which, on the face of it, may not have much in common.

Yet, through the simplicity, directness, discipline, the reduction to the essence, understatement, and the ability to show a hidden reality, it does according to Kurer.

This approach, Kurer adds, is not to subordinate traditional Cordillera art to the viewpoint of “modern” or “fine” art point of view but to allow both sources to be looked at on the same level. “That also means to avoid looking, in the traditional approach, at the Cordillera pieces shown from the perspective of their anthropological, ceremonial, and functional background and use,” Kurer says.

“What the exhibition and juxtaposition focuses on is the artistic implementation of the carver’s dealings with the spiritual world in their natural environment, and the search for the unconscious, and how it co-relates or connects with the same search for aesthetics of their modern artistic   counterparts.”

In the January/February 2017 edition of Asian Art Magazine, AsianArt: Future published an article that looks in detail into the art of the Cordilleras people and their counterparts around the globe. The write up points out that pieces they have created match the quality of the pieces of African and Oceanic tribal art. Kurer also published a book titled Simplicity.Ifugao Sculpture.Power (Hong Kong University Press/Columbia University Press).

As a collector, Kurer remains fascinated by the fact that artists from different continents, with very distinct cultural heritages, and from very different epochs, could end up employing—or be perceived to be employing—very similar aesthetic approaches and furthering this dialogue is what he hopes the exhibition will achieve.

Experience more Japan with JAL’s new early flight: Manila to Tokyo via Haneda

The newest flight service from Japan Airlines (JAL) is giving Filipinos the chance to enjoy more experiences in the land of the rising sun.  Starting February 1, travelers can take the Manila-Tokyo (via Haneda) route and land in Japan by 5AM. The direct flight is the earliest to arrive from the Philippines, helping travelers maximize their itinerary as early as day one.

From ramen, to izakaya, to onsen, to sakura, Japan continues to capture the imagination of Filipinos, prompting seasoned travelers to make return trips and an increasing influx of first-time visitors.  Since 2012, the number of Filipinos visiting Japan has been rising by 20 percent. The new route comes in time as even more are encouraged to take the trip with Japan's easier Visa requirements for Filipinos declared in mid-2018.

“We’ve seen more Filipinos are acting on their desire to visit Japan as we welcomed the more than 400,000 tourists from the Philippines in 2017. As the flag carrier, we are very proud to be part of the Filipino tourist’s journey as we extend the Japanese experience from the moment you step on board to the moment you arrive in Japan,” declares Chikara Mochihara, General Manager of JAL – Manila.

The Haneda airport also has more local connections than Narita, which means tourists have easier and more convenient access to domestic destinations.  Transportation services to and from the airport starts early and travelers can be in Tokyo, Shibuya, Tsukiji, Roppongi, or Akihabara in less than 30 minutes; or Shinjuku and Ueno in less than 40 minutes.

"You can take your pick of which part of Japan to enjoy and get there still on-time for an authentic Japanese breakfast.  Of course, it is not just breakfast and there is more to experience and enjoy in Japan with our new flight connection. You have the whole first day to see more sights, try more activities, taste more food, and really immerse in everything else Japan offers," he adds.

JAL’s promise of efficient, on-time, and convenient flights is backed up by recognition from the industry.  It has been awarded the World’s Most Punctual Airline by Flightstats for five years now, and its economy class with expanded legroom has been awarded the World’s Best Economy Class by Skytrax.

For a limited time, the airline is also offering special fares until February 16 for travel until July 31.  Economy class fares are available for USD320 and business class for USD1,099, all with full-service inclusions.
