SM through the Solar system launch commits a better tomorrow for Trece Martires



Last Wednesday ,  November 22.2017 marks another milestone in SM Supermalls pursuit to making each day better for all at the launching of SM City Trece Martires City, Cavite. Having Solar system compose of 2914 panel as one of their backup and power essentials  is only one of the many programs that SM have that gives the solution to the environmental needs of our country. 

One of those is the 'Trash to Can , recycling markets in SM malls, The integration of transport terminals in malls to mitigate traffics for cleaner air. With the disaster risk reduction' taking center stage on sustainability , SM has been building resilient malls with water catchment basins to help manage flood prone areas.


The Switching program was graced by the SM’s Vice President for Marketing  Mr. JonJon San Agustin, Trece Martirez  Representative to the  Mayor Ms. Aiza de Sagun , Solar Philippines head and founder Mr. Leandro Leviste and Public school students of Trece Martirez.


Before  the switching on of the plant Mr. Leviste was one who talks and  tell the students of Trece , Cavite that they should be more prouder to have SM’s  initiative to have the first  solar facilities in their place. Having a more productive and high tech facilities in the country.

At the ‘switching on’ ceremony SM’s partnership  since 2014  with   head and founder  of the Solar Philippines  Mr. Leandro Leviste , leading the largest developer of solar rooftop Power plants in the Southeast Asia. Mr. Leviste was recognized by the Forbes Magazine2016  30 under  30 Asia. SM however highlighted that the Solar system rollout all over the country is only a part of the sustainability program SM has been doing for years.

The SM City Trece Martires solar facilty houses 2,914 solar panels capable of generating 0.5 megawatts of electricity, enough to fully charge 130,000 cellphones, light up 15,500 10 watts of LED lamps , run  4,500 30-watts electric fans, and provide power to 300 households. The use of solar energy promotes clean air and saves the environment by helping reduce carbon footprints from electricity produced from combustion of fossil fuels.
