Food establishments offering the best of German cuisine and beverages recently headlined a food-tasting event, as part of the upcoming Mabuhay Germany 2015.
Hosted by the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI), the activity featured participating food concessionaires who showed a preview of what will be served on February 21 and 22 at the Bonifacio Global Center.
“We know that Filipinos love to eat, and this certain passion for food is a trait shared by Germans as well. In Mabuhay Germany 2015, we are introducing German cuisine to more Filipinos, allowing them to experience the country’s culture one bite at a time. Since there will be no entrance fee, everyone can come freely and have a slice of German food and culture for the whole weekend,” said GPCCI General Manager Nadine Fund.

Among the Mabuhay Germany 2015 food concessionaires is The German Club Manila, founded as early as 1886 under the name Casino Union. Located at Eurovilla II Building in Legaspi Village, Makati City, it offers the perfect venue for fine dining, special events and get-togethers for members and their guests. For Mabuhay Germany 2015, The German Club will serve breaded pork steak, an assortment of German sausages, Goulash soup, assorted salads, pastas, Sauerkraut, spaetzle and Weihenstephan Premium Beer.
Guests should also not miss out on BAMM (Big Appetites, Mighty Munch), Manila’s first German-Turkish comfort food establishment. Tucked away in an unobtrusive corner of A.venue Mall along Makati Avenue, the award-winning restaurant offers specials that include Schnitzel, authentic pork escalope with zesty crumbs and a golden crunch, served with Sauerkraut and a choice of either Fishsticks or Hummus. For Mabuhay Germany 2015, BAMM partnered Beer Hero to serve premium draft beer hand-crafted in the Philippines.

Another concessionaire to be featured in Mabuhay Germany 2015 is Fraulein’s Sausages, a frequent food attraction at bazaars and other community events in Metro Manila. Popular for its sumptuous sausage sandwiches, it has won the hearts particularly of the young crowd. To keep its menu authentic, the owner goes the extra mile by importing condiments from Germany.

Meanwhile, Brotzeit will serve a feast of its signature dishes including pork knuckle, schnitzel (pork or chicken), sausages (chicken, Nurnberger, Kasekrainer, Weisswurst, garlic sausage), honey Bavarian pork ribs with salad, potato wedges and mashed potatoes. In German, “brot” means “bread” and “zeit” literally translates to “time,” so its name means bread time or small meal or snack time, which is usually accompanied by refreshing, good quality beers.
Now on its seventh year, Mabuhay Germany is organized by GPCCI in cooperation with the German Embassy, Goethe Institut and the German European School Manila to celebrate over 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
