jobsDB Salutes Workforce Hero: Ordinary People, doing their Work at its Best
Most of us grew up watching superhero movies such as Superman, Batman, and the X-men, even down to our very own Darna, Captain Barbell, Panday and Enteng Kabisote. We followed them in their adventures in comics, on TV, and in the movies. Our love for anything related to these superheroes guarantee that they’re always a top-grosser every time they’re shown in the cinemas and lord over the ratings when shown on TV.
How many times did you silently wish you too could fly, shoot laser beams from your eyes or be super strong? You also probably thought of using these superpowers to help people. In reality though, you don’t need superpowers to be a HERO – all you need is the passion to do things extra-ordinarily.
As we celebrate this year’s National Heroes Day, we share with you thoughts from normal people on what makes them an everyday hero – people without superpowers but whose hearts have the extraordinary desire to make a difference.
Last night,August 27, 2014, jobsDB Philippines gathered together people from different job industries to celebrate their contributions in making a difference in the workforce.
And the program was graced by the presence of JobsDB Singapore group to witnessed the kind of respect and gratitude the Philippine side for the common and simple people who does their jobs with dedication and passion.
We, the group of On line media bloggers who have seen and witnessed the event was amazed and should give credit to this kind of dignity that was given to the lowly laborer in our country because we have seen how the successful and elite businessman , Managers, and great leaders who was given such distinct kind of respect but would see them with pride and dignity.
Whereas this time this group of men and women who has been regard do their speech with trembling and at the same time with teary eyes not expecting this kind of gratitude JobsDB gives which is far more beyond the bonuses and money they got which by the way should be given consideration in the near future because of the high cost of living we are experiencing this time and age..
JobsDB Phils, invited them over to a dinner buffet at Dad’s SM Megamall to present to them their Workforce Hero Award. Get to know each of them below:

Station Manager of DWDD-Katropa Radio
Resisting the lure of more income outside the service, he joined the AFP Commissary and Exchange Service (AFPCES) in 2013 as the Chief of Operations and later Corporate Planning and Business Development officer where he helped the organization to be at par with the best in the retail industry. With minimal resources, as the Station Manager of the Katropa Radio, he institutionalized reforms primarily in the format and delivery of radio programs in order to make it more relevant to the general public. He further positioned the organization not only as a radio station but as multi-media facility making it as the first AM radio in the Philippines with a live streaming-ready website. In his role as the Commander of the Media and Civil Affairs Group, he initiated a ground breaking activity in disseminating information with the conduct of the First AFP Social Media Summit with more than a thousand participants.
He is an advocate of the “Home for Soldiers” and “Greater Philippines” programs which aim for the betterment of the living conditions of soldiers and bringing back the Philippines to glory.
For the heroes long dead to whom we dedicate the National Heroes Day, we are forever in their debt. We thank them for everything they did for the country and for the inspiration to become HEROES ourselves.
However, there is more to being a hero than taking up arms or possessing superhuman powers. We can be a HERO simply by living our life in the service of other people and for always striving to do things extraordinarily. While the rest of the world may be oblivious to your deeds of everyday heroism, know that your family and friends will always remember and appreciate everything you did for them.
Congratulations to our Workforce Hero 2014 awardees and continue to make a difference!

Philippines Property Awards 2014 Winners Revealed
[Manila, 19 August 2014] The top real estate executives and industry leaders in the country gathered to recognise the best developers, developments and design firms at the second annual Philippines Property Awards 2014.
The Philippines’ biggest real estate event of the year, held on Tuesday, 19 August, at the Fairmont and Raffles Makati in an exclusive gala dinner and awards presentation ceremony, where Tourism Secretary Ramon Reyes Jimenez Jr. gave an enlivening speech as the evening’s Guest of Honor.
“Secretary Jiminez called for the developer’s present to create iconic buildings for the world to associate with the Philippines. I am sure that call will be heeded and the quality of the developments recognised at the awards shows a high level of innovation already in the sector.” said Terry Blackburn, CEO of Ensign Media, organisers of the Awards. “Although the majority of development activity is still focused on Manila it was great to see an even stronger presence from Cebu this year and high quality entries from Davao. Special congratulations are also due to Ayala.”
A total of 18 awards across three categories—namely, Developers, Developments and Design—were handed out during the glittering black-tie event, which was attended by more than 130 guests from all over the country who came to cheer on the best companies, projects and properties in Manila, Cebu and Davao.
Ayala Land nabbed the most prestigious award of the evening as Best Developer, beating Filinvest Land Inc., which received the highly commended honour. Ayala Land also received highly commended citations in the Best Housing Development (Manila) and Best Affordable Condo Development (Manila) awards.
“I do not think that many would argue with their Best Developer award this year and I am sure that the category will be even more competitive next year,” added Blackburn.
Anchor Land Holdings Inc.’s mixed-use residential development Admiral Baysuites, which faces the world-famous Manila Bay, was named Best Luxury Condo Development (Manila), while Azure Urban Resort Residences from Century Properties Group was recognised as the Best Mid-Range Condo Development (Manila).
Other winning residential properties were Federal Land Inc.’s Marco Polo Residences Towers 1 and 2, which received the Best Condo Development (Cebu), and Abreeza Residences, another Ayala Land property, which was named Best Residential Development (Davao).
Arya Residences, a flagship project of ArthaLand Corporation in Bonifacio Global City, was a double winner in the Design category, taking home the Best Residential Architectural Design and Best Residential Interior Design awards. Another big winner, SM Aura Premier, owned by SM Prime Holdings, also nabbed two awards: Best Commercial Development (Retail) and Best Commercial Architectural Design (Retail).
Meanwhile, SM Prime affiliate SM Development Corporation (SMDC) bagged the Special Recognition in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) award for its positive impact on the Philippine’s burgeoning real estate sector.
Winners at this year’s event are now eligible to compete at the fourth annual South East Asia Property Awards, which will be held at The Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore on 16 October, for the most coveted industry awards in the region.
This year’s highly respected judges panel was once again led by TAJARA Leisure & Hospitality Group Inc. president Cyndy Tan Jarabata, who brought her experience to the role to ensure that all the eligible entries were comprehensively assessed.
“The winners Ayala Land has a very comprehensive portfolio and deservedly won the evening’s top honour,” Tarabata said. “They have everything from affordable to luxury, vertical to horizontal, hotels, retail, and they’re not just present in Metro Manila but in other cities in the Philippines as well. More important to note is that in almost all these categories, they’ve been successful as well.”
The other highly qualified members of the central judges panel at this year’s Awards were celebrated architect William V. Coscolluela; Lindsay J. Orr, chief operating officer of Jones Lang LaSalle Philippines; Rommel M. Leuterio, group president of Property Management & Development Group, ICCP Group; Jaime A. Cura, Ph.D., vice-chairman of the RGV Group of Companies; and Jose Oscar O. Salvacion, president of Design Coordinates, inc. / Construction Project Managers.
In addition to the aforementioned award categories, one of the top honours of the night was given to property tycoon Dr. Andrew L. Tan, who was selected by the editors of Ensign Media’s Property Report magazine as the Philippines’ Real Estate Personality of the Year.
The 61-year-old Tan, who is chairman and CEO of urban developer Megaworld Corporation, was chosen for leading one of the country’s biggest real estate conglomerates, which is also celebrating its 25th year in the industry.
“The driving force behind this is Dr. Tan and he has proven himself time and time again to be one of South East Asia’s most astute and forward thinking businessmen,” Blackburn said. “He has created a property empire to stand alongside his other business interests and make himself one of the dominant figures in the Philippines business community.”

Global Pinoy Bazaar, Championing Filipino Entrepreneurialism since 2007
As the Global Pinoy Bazaar moves to the World Trade Center for its tenth installment, Yabang Pinoy proves the quality of Filipino brands threefold.
For eight years running, the Global Pinoy Bazaar has been successfully championing the excellence of proudly Filipino brands, proving that we can compete with big international labels. The flagship project of Yabang Pinoy has built a community where business owners focus on craftsmanship and consumers expect loyalty.
In the 10th Global Pinoy Bazaar on 22-24 August 2014, Yabang Pinoy moves to the World Trade Center, a venue three times larger, to showcase the breadth of Filipino entrepreneurialism. The lineup features almost two hundred local brands and business concepts, from loyal merchants to budding startups, in art, design, music, travel, technology, home, fashion, and food and beverage.
“A Filipino entrepreneur is someone who believes that Filipinos have the ability to exceed or at least be at par with established international brands in terms of product quality, process efficiencies, marketing, and branding,” says Mark Carrillo of men’s lifestyle brand Fledge Clothing. The new entrant to the bazaar is equally as committed to product quality. “People are always surprised when they learn that our products are locally made. We are joining Global Pinoy Bazaar to support the local industry, and show the quality of local independent brands,” says Mark.
This conviction is not lost in Martha Rodriguez of Vesti Clothing, which has been joining the bazaar since the brand was founded four years ago.” I started Vesti in October 2010 to showcase the beauty of hand-woven indigenous fabrics from Mindanao. I joined Global Pinoy Bazaar in November the same year because I felt that it was the perfect venue where people appreciate local art, culture, and heritage.”
The bazaar is also marked by various activities, from talks by crowdfunding platform Spark Project and app developer JoomaJam, to workshops by crafts studio Craft Manila, and a jamming session by dance school Samba School Imperatriz Filipinense, among others.
The Global Pinoy Bazaar also coincides with Buwan ng Wika and with the “Made in the Philippines Products Week,” as declared by Presidential Proclamation No. 76.
By showcasing globally competitive Filipino brands, Yabang Pinoy strives to support and empower local micro, small, and medium enterprises, and develop the community of globally competitive Filipino brands.
The 10th Global Pinoy Bazaar will be held on 22-24 August 2014, from 11am to 9pm at the World Trade Center. Please visit www.yabangpinoy.com for more information.

Easy Taxi & Waze to promote ‘Social’ and Responsible Driving
Easy Taxi & Waze have announced a partnership aiming at facilitating mobility and responsible driving. The campaign, which starts initially in the Philippines, Singapore, and Brazil, has common objectives of raising the awareness about the most important problems related to city transportation.
Following the theme of “Don’t drink and drive”, the campaign targets one of the growing social problems in the Philippines and comes just two months after the new strict law, prohibiting driving under the influence, was introduced by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC). To additionally motivate the passengers to take a safe taxi instead of driving under risky conditions, Easy Taxi introduced a zero booking fee to accompany the campaign. Waze instead, wants to assure all users are familiar about the "Share Drive" functionality, which allows users to send a direct message or email to inform their friends and family about the arrival and eventual lateness. While all Easy-Taxi drivers are verified and tracked in real time, sharing the ride with family or friends introduces additional layer of safety, which is within the best intention of both partners. In case of any potential delay noticed with Waze's "Share Drive", worried parents or friends, can further request information from Easy Taxi about taxi location and driver details.
“We have a lot in common with Waze, but most importantly we share a mission of reducing the traffic and increasing safety of the transportation industry. The partnership will help us assure an precedented quality of the passenger service to the roads of Manila and Cebu. With the help of SMART Communications we already enabled drivers to use Waze and Easy Taxi with no barriers through zero data plans. It’s now time to bring full synergies to the table”, said Mario Berta, Easy Taxi’s Regional Managing Director.
“Safety is the utmost priority for Waze. Waze was the first navigation app to block drivers from texting and driving. The entire navigation experience, even reporting an accident, can be done by voice command. Additionally, Waze warns you about accidents and hazards on the road, thereby keeping drivers out of the most dangerous segments of road. Similarly, our partnership with Easy Taxi allows us to continue to strive for safety. By working with Easy Taxi, we’re able to offer our users the safest way to get home, while under the influence, and still enjoy the benefits of Waze since their drivers use Waze, too”, said Julie Mossler, Waze Sr. Director of Communications.
The social responsibility campaign between Waze and Easy Taxi could become a beginning of cooperation on a bigger scale between both tech giants. Onboarding Easy Taxi on Waze app could allow the latter to use it to recruit more drivers. Easy Taxi's CMO, Paul Malicki, sees it as a big step in company's efforts to expand user acquisition to new channels. “Waze is possibly the most complimentary product to Easy Taxi due to its embedded ability to help taxi drivers challenge the traffic, while it also reaches heavy commuters in the world’s biggest metropolis.
Today we run marketing on more than dozen different marketing platforms but with Waze for the first time we will be able to target passengers and drivers with unusual efficiency. We saw a very positive feedback from the drivers after adding Waze deeplink into the Easy Taxi app. There are so many possibilities to work together and we are looking forward to explore them.”

He was meant to be a lifestyler. After finishing college in U.P.Diliman, Philip and his pals setup Wild Life, a clothing store catering to cool high school and college kids. They used the heartthrobs and sweethearts of the top schools and this marketing strategy gave them sales beyond their expectations. The lifestyle editor of the Manila Times took notice of Wild Life and invited Philip to be a contributor.
The initial half page that he had to fill up would eventually be extended into 2 pages with various lifestyle news—food, fashion, parties, beautiful people, travel. The job opened doors and several lifestyle experiences for Philip. “My network expanded and I realized I really loved lifestyle news and coverage,” he shares.
During the even they graciously give a Raffle prices which is so nice for travel and some for Fitness gym and of course Smartphone from Huawei.
Philip also interacted closely with the PR’s and publicity industry. He learned how PR is done effectively and opened RPA & Communicate, a PR agency specializing in lifestyle and society clients. “In the 90s and 2000’s lifestyle was mostly for the affluent, done in English and always featuring high-end products and services,” he relates. Things have changed since then.
In the age of reality TV, lifestyle is no longer just for the rich and those who can afford it. “I’ve always maintained that lifestyle should not just be aspirational but more importantly, it should inspire people to live their lives in style, no matter what circumstance you are in,” he explains.
After 2 seasons each of “It’s More Fun with Philip” and “Philip Lifestyle Guy,” the objective of making sure lifestyle is understood and appreciated by a wider audience has been started. In the latest offering, “Fun with Philip,” the agenda to help and entertain is pushed even further. Chosen letter senders will experience the food, beauty treatments, fitness regimen, etc. that are featured on the show. More than this, contests both on-air and online via www.philipabadicio.com will give viewers more chances of enjoying the lifestyle features on the show.
“Fun with Philip” is a show made for lifestylers. As they say on the show, “mga Kapusong Lifestylers, we will give you the surprises for you to win the prizes!” A segment called Kwentuhang Kumot, where Philip interviews a celebrity under the sheets as he or she reveals untold secrets, will be there.
Philip will be joined by his FunKicks, the sidekicks or co-hosts who will help provide more fun. They are actress and commercial model Valeen Montenegro who will be with Philip to handle the Fashion & Beauty segments, and fitness coach Bryan Lopez Santos who will be Philip's exercise buddy in the Health & Fitness segments.
“The show will be a lot of fun while you learn something new and you can apply it in your lives plus, you just might win prizes too,” Philip says.
“Fun with Philip” is produced by The Lifestylers Media, directed by Ace Villena and written by Rod Divinagracia. It will air on GMA News TV every Saturday and Sunday, from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. starting this August 2014.
