Bianca Gonzalez and 13 everyday drivers test road savvy and fuel efficiency skills on Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge

Last Wednesday Shell announces the winners for the competition compose  of Online mommy bloggers and some professional drivers .TV host Bianca Gonzalez and thirteen everyday drivers geared up to put their driving know-how to the test, as they drove from Bonifacio Global City to Batangas and back, in the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge.
Testing road savvy and pushing fuel efficient driving skills of seven teams, the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge taught fourteen participants to drive smart and make good choices on and off the road to help manage life’s daily pressures.

“More than being a fuel efficiency competition, the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge is our way of showing Filipino motorists how easy it is to be fuel efficient. All it takes are making a few simple changes to the way we drive and using the right fuel,” explained Anthony Lawrence Yam, Vice President for Retail of Pilipinas Shell.
Driving a total distance of 240 kilometers in the all new Ford EcoSport 1.5L Titanium, the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge participants took on four challenges that tested their ability to be fuel efficient on the road. Making the Driving Challenge more of a learning experience for the participants is a special mentoring session on smarter driving behaviors by Shell Fuel Scientist Mae Ascan, the only Filipino among the over 200 Fuel Scientists in the world.
“I am delighted to be part of the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge and show my fellow motorists that every driver can be fuel efficient,” said Bianca Gonzalez who was named Shell FuelSave Celebrity Driver of the Year after besting three other celebrities from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand during the final leg of the Shell FuelSave Celebrity Driving Challenge in February.
“I am not a driving enthusiast so I am amazed to know that making simple adjustments to the way I drive – such as driving smoothly, avoiding high speeds and planning my trips carefully can go a long way in increasing my fuel efficiency,” Gonzalez added. “Of course, what makes the difference is choosing the right fuel.”
Demonstrating that fuel efficient driving can be done by all drivers, the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge also challenged everyday drivers, including professional drivers, moms and young professionals, who all cannot take driving out of their daily routine and busy lives.
“It’s no secret that Filipino motorists are constantly balancing life’s pressures, making numerous decisions that impact their finances, their families and their future,” said Yam. “Ultimately, through the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge, we want to show everyday drivers that choosing the right fuel does not have to be a tough decision, and that Shell FuelSave is a good choice that they don’t have to think about.”

oice Driving Challenge served as a prelude to the results of the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Report –a nationwide study conducted by Pilipinas Shell to probe deeper into the range of decisions Filipino motorists make, the factors that affect these decisions, and how these impact the other aspect of their lives.
As Pilipinas Shell continues to celebrate 100 Years of Shell Companies in the Philippines, the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Driving Challenge and the Shell FuelSave Good Choice Report are a testament to the company’s commitment to meet the evolving needs of its customers and provide quality products and services.

Unilever and Shell improve toilet Sanitation for the comfort of Holy Week Travelers

This coming week starts one of the most important tradition we have as a country and its the Holy Week. Through their program 1 Million clean toilets . It is quite interesting to have a good and comfort toilet and Domex through Unilever Philippines in partnership with Shell stations Metro wide but this time on North and South Express way, by their motto 1 toilet at a time ,wanting us to experience the kind of comfort and sanitation it can give by the use of their product.
The summer season heralds the start of an annual tradition among thousands of Filipino families traveling to the provinces in observance of Holy week. In preparation  Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation wants to provide motorists and travelers heading North and South  of Luzon access to clean hygienic toilets for their comfort during the yearly exodus.
Leading the clean up is Unilever Philippines Marketing Director for Home Care Jay Go and Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Vice President for Retail Anthony Lawrence Yam. North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) Shell Stations will experience Domex clean-ups beginning April 10, 2014.

“This coming Holy Week, when you gas up at Shell and take a break, you can expect smarter products and quality service at our stations.” says Yam.

“Everyone deserves a good toilet break during the long Holy Week journeys. With our cleanup drive, we at Unilever and our friends with Shell would like to assure the public of sanitized comfort rooms as they rest and recharge for the trip.” says Go.

Travelling during peak seasons introduces heightened risks of acquiring diseases, and some of the possible sources are poorly sanitized public restrooms that travelers may use along the way. Gas stations along major roads become the necessary stop-over points for commuters and private motorists, resulting in the crowded and busy use of comfort rooms and other facilities.
With this, Unilever Philippines is providing six (6) months worth of Domex products for proper toilet sanitation of selected Shell gas stations. In support of the 1 million Clean Toilets advocacy Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation submit their corporate pledge for clean toilets and continue to execute proper toilet sanitation throughout the year.
