DOTC Pursues 3-Year Program to Reduce Domestic Shipping Costs for Inclusive Growth

This is one of the good moves of what the present  government is doing through DOTC here specially with this time that most on the  minimum income individuals who have family to support cannot meet the ends of their daily needs .

train

By this move there is a hope that commodities and its prices can be lower down and If there is a chance that public transport such as trains can be used to transport goods , and it will mean additional trains and additional  destinations as well. especially on places where food and livelihood is produced. it will be a great benefit to the whole country.

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is beginning a three (3)-year program aimed at generating growth for the country’s agribusiness trade, directly benefitting workers in the agricultural and fisheries sectors across the country, in line with President Benigno S. Aquino III’s push for inclusive growth.

The DOTC announced last  (May 8, 2013) that it has signed a Cooperation Agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to pursue various policy and regulatory reforms in the Philippine shipping sector in order to improve our farmers’ market access and integration by reducing the cost of domestic shipping.

The project will involve a diagnostic review by the IFC to identify areas where pro-competitive practices will help meet these goals. The DOTC will work together with its frontline agencies, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), in reviewing the results of the study and implementing the recommendations of the IFC from 2013 to 2016.
“This partnership with the IFC is a very welcome development. It will have a major impact on our economy, especially for farmers and fisherfolk who stand to realize the most gains from our policy reforms,” said the Transport Department.

he DOTC explained further that, by reducing domestic shipping costs, the prices of commodities will also go down. According to a study prepared by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 2005, 24.2% to 43.8% of the wholesale price of food products is on account of transport and logistics costs.

“By making it cheaper to move agricultural goods from farms to markets, the prices of these commodities will also be reduced, making them more affordable to consumers,” remarked the DOTC. “These benefits are the reason why the DOTC, MARINA, and PPA – all of whom share the President’s vision of inclusive growth – look forward to this project.”

This effort is partly funded by the Canadian International Cooperation Agency (CIDA), and will require no cost on the part of the Philippine government. It is also part of the IFC’s Philippine Agribusiness Trade Logistics program.

According to IFC Resident Representative Jesse Ang, this agreement demonstrates the IFC’s confidence in the DOTC, MARINA, and PPA’s efforts to undertake shipping and port reforms.

The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) is advocating health and wellness in the workplace as one of the most important issues that companies need to address today. With this, PMAP will hold a nationwide event called National Wellness Day that is envisioned to be participated by various companies in the country, both PMAP and non-PMAP members, on June 21, 2013.

During a media roundtable interview recently, PMAP President Evelyn Grace C. It includes company-sponsored healthy lunch and snack; learning sessions on work-life balance, holistic and spirituality; and the 7-Minute PMAP Wellness Moment, a quick wellness activity that involves stretching and meditation to be done simultaneously across the nation by employees at exactly 3:00 pm on June 21.

“Dance of the Steelbars”, Special Screening

dingdong3

I watched the screening of Dance of the Steelbars at SM Megamall and If there is a movie that is to be shown and be related to Independence Day , It should be this one. It is a true story of a Cebu inmate named Mando who grew up without knowing his father and was reared up by a mother who is a Dance Instructress .

dingdong2

And as He encountered any problem and difficulties he divert those feelings by the very thing he is inspired and wanting do all his life. He accidentally killed a partner in dancing , a gay while in the mode of dancing  while trying to molest him, that brings him to jail. Together with Him is a man in the person of Patrck Bergin known as Frank Parish who has been a victim of injustice while he just want to help a man who was just knifed by an unknown killer.

dingdong

A reform was made in the prison at Cebu National Imprisonment when the  PNP Head  installed another Chief in the district in the person of Ricky Davao known as Warden Rodrigo who wants to set from the mode of  fighting  and revenge to  a different one, a more productive one. Then he found out that one man can do it through dancing.through the help of Mando’s gay friend.

Its an inspirational kind of story brought by GMA films that should give inspiration and hope  to the people outside the prison but more  specially to the inmates on the prison cells that there are still hopes for a bright and meaningful future in whatever circumstance we may be in.

King Of The Cage Press Conference

koc2

June 8, 2013, Ultimate Fitness Gym Pasig City, The press conference of King of the Cage has been one of the most waited fights here in the Philippines since Mixed Martial Arts has been introduced and fights among the Asian Fighters has been seen and watched all over the world with great expectations and matches that are incomparable..

koc

kotc5

Today the dream is set to reality where, President and Founder Mr. Terry Trebilcock and Mr. Ray Young , Chariman of KOTC Philippines express their high hopes and aspirations that King of the Cage Philippines will be one of the most sought after fights here in Asia and the World .

IMG_4653

King of the Cage, also known as KOTC, is an MMA promotion based in Southern California, USA. It was founded in 1998 by Terry Trebilcock. KOTC is known for honing both up-and-coming and seasoned fighters. This year, the distinguished breeding ground of MMA fighters will be having its franchise in the Philippines.

KOTC signed recently signed a multi-year with a private equity group headed by international businessman Ray Young and finance expert Michael Brown. The group will be setting up an operating company in the Philippines for the purpose of promoting and developing multiple live events and bringing weekly broadcast television shows throughout the country.

As announced as an official statement, KOTC initially plans to hold two shows on Philippine soil this year in addition to opening a gym to facilitate the growth of Filipino prospects. There are also intentions to establish a partnership with a local television network for its international content in 2014.

Fresh off its announcement of entering the Pearl of the Orients to further its global expansion, KOTC holds its first live event in Manila at the 20,000-seater SM Mall of Asia Arena on July 5. Two undefeated world champions will headline the fight card.

The first world title fight features Sean “Tarzan” Strickland defending his KOTC middleweight championship against Japan’s Yuske Sakashita. Strickland has seven fights inside the KOTC cage and is 11-0 in his professional MMA career. In his run with the California-based promotion, he has five victories by knockout, one submission win, and a decision triumph over KOTC veteran Josh Bryant.

Moreover, his opponent from the Land of the Rising Sun is a 9-3 fighter, who is making a KOTC debut. Five of Sakashita’s nine victories have come by knockout, but he is coming off as a unanimous-decision loss to Young Choi this past September.

In the second world title fight, Lowen Tynanes puts his KOTC junior welterweight title on the line versus Joe Condon. Tynanes most recently defeated Felipe Enomoto via first-round TKO at ONE FC 9: Rise to Power, which was also held in Manila last May 31. The 5-0 gladiator from Ewa Beach, Hawaii is making his first title defense after his submission victory over Kris Armbrister last April 11.

While Condon is a long-time KOTC brawler, who is coming from an unfortunate two-fight losing skid against Sevak Magakian and Derek Campos. The American slugger from Victorville, California has three submission victories tucked under his belt.

On the evening of July 5, all spotlights will be zoomed not only on the title fights but also on the eight undercard bouts that will put Filipinos on display. The fact that KOTC’s inaugural fight card in Manila will showcase locals instead of foreign ones is a clear indication of its core mission to work with our very own Filipino fighters.

KOTC held tryouts at SM City Marikina last April 28 in search for the right fighters to fill in for the undercards. Every Filipino who qualified to the roster was given a five-year contract which entitled them to multiple fights in the promotion.

Both URCC and PXC claim being the best in the country. URCC takes pride that majority of the best homegrown talents are enlisted in its fight organization, while PXC boasts of a constantly improving line-up of Filipinos. KOTC has a different take on the matter. Even with the availability of clever fighters, they chose to burrow deeper and put their stakes on the young guns of the industry in preparation for stardom.

One of the Pinoy combatants who should see action that night is Reign Sotto. It was noted that he broke the arm of his opponent during the qualifiers.

Also making a special appearance in the one-night spectacle is Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who is a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion that recently signed with Bellator MMA.

One of the most respected MMA referees will be in the mix to officiate as well. Herb Dean, a veteran of more than three thousand fights, will be the third man in the cage in some of the fights on July 5. 2013.

IMG_4617 IMG_4621

And First time in the history of known international sports competition  brand specially on MMA fights they will used Filipino models to be the RingGirl that would really set the mode of the fights in every events.

KOTC is known for producing renowned MMA fighters with the likes of Rampage Jackson, Urijah Faber, Bibiano Fernandes, Diego Sanchez, and many others. It can be said that the arrival of King of the Cage puts the Philippines a notch higher than its neighboring Asian countries. It can be expected that the cage with the bright yellow mat can pave the way towards the fulfilment of dreams for Pinoys who want MMA to be the next big thing in sports.

Aboard the Coca-Cola Happiness Bus, Enchong, Joseph, Julia, and Kathryn trooped from one packed venue to another with Becca, Dean, Melissa, and Jacob trailing with their big smiles on. Joining the festivities, the eight well-received stars made the afternoon a certified Coca-Cola Mismo Day like no other.

The Coca-Cola Mismo 300 mL at only P10 allows more Filipinos to enjoy delicious taste and unique refreshment in a 300ml PET bottle that is easy to carry anywhere. For young troopers who are always on the go, say bulky bottles or even plastic bags from sari-sari stores no more, Coca-Cola Mismo provides instant access and portability to that ice-cold bottle of happiness. Available in sari-sari stores in Metro Manila.
