Moonstar88 and Jensen and the Flips make new music at Coke Studio

Manila, August 7, 2017 – Different generations often find icons to represent themselves, and Coke Studio has brought the voices from two different generations together. The blending of genres and sounds from the past and present shows music’s constant evolution as well as the possibility of even newer and fresher sounds.

In the early 2000s, Moonstar88 skyrocketed to fame with the release of their single Torete which became an iconic song that dictated the distinct sound of their era.
Jensen and the Flips is one of the hottest artists today, rising to the OPM scene with a funky and sexy sound of their own.

This collaboration, being the only pairing of two bands in Coke Studio, was initially met with some apprehension.  “I don't know if we can even fit all their instruments into the studio!” said Coke Studio host Raymund Marasigan jokingly when asked about the interesting match-up. Even Jensen and the Flips front man, Jensen Gomez, admitted that he was skeptic and nervous about being paired with the veteran band. “Totoo ba?  Could this be really happening?  Of course, we were so pressured!  But then we also knew that we had to put on our game face, and not think about that pressure,” he shared.

The collaboration disproved their apprehensions and surprised the two bands and spectators with an easy and smooth blend. “There was no polarizing at all. Everyone really came up with a good song,” said Herbert Hernandez, lead guitarist of Moonstar88. “Genres can really blend well.”

When asked about their collaboration, Moonstar88 vocalist, Mayshelle Baay likened it to that of a constellation – “There are many stars all shining on their own, but still in the same formation in the sky,” she added. The analogy was only fitting for these artists who have proven themselves stars of the OPM scene.

Watch these icons of the past and the present come together to bring the music of the future at Coke Studio. Catch it on August 12, Saturday at 7 p.m. on TV5 or on www.youtube.com/CokeStudioPH.

6th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards further diversifies with inclusive categories in 2018

New recognition announced for outstanding township, alternative housing, and mid-end and affordable condo developments

·         Nominations open for the country’s biggest and most respected real estate awards system
·         Independent judging panel elects new chair Dr Jaime V. Cura of RGV Group of Companies
·         Sixth annual gala dinner and awards ceremony set for 27 April 2018 at the Fairmont Makati

The annual PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards, the archipelago’s biggest and most prestigious real estate awards program, have officially launched its sixth edition for 2018 via a well-attended press briefing held last Thursday (3 August 2017) at the New World Makati Hotel.

In a vote held a day before the launch, the independent panel of judges approved to make changes and further diversify the categories of the awards system to acknowledge the emerging market conditions.

“This is to recognize the continuing emergence of innovations in design, production, and marketing among Philippine developers. To us, this is proof of their sensitivity to local market conditions and their courage to try new strategies and new products outside of the tried and tested,” said Dr. Jaime V. Cura, vice chairman of RGV Group of Companies, who has been elected as the new chairman of the judging panel as Lindsay J. Orr ends his two-year term as head judge.

For the Awards’ sixth edition, recognition will be presented for Best Township Development and Best Township Design, where the judges will be looking for the project’s smart city principles, sustainable design and carbon-emission management system, among others, as the popularity of and demand for such integrated community developments in and outside the capital rises.

Adding to the two township categories, there will be accolades for: Best Alternative Housing Development, to recognize owner-managed housing projects intended for transient workers, students and the elderly; Best Mid End Condo Development (Metro Manila); and Best Affordable Condo Development (Cebu).

“For more than half a decade, the annual Philippine Property Awards has recognized outstanding examples of world-class property development across the country. Every year, the number grows,” said Cura. “We feel that we should recognize and encourage such innovations and sensitivity to market conditions to prove that the Philippine property market continues to be a standout in this part of the world.”

In the previous edition of the Awards, the judging panel also introduced several categories reflecting the growth of the domestic market, such as Best BPO Office Development, Best Mixed Use Development, and Best Universal Design Development. These categories remain for the 2018 edition after being well received by local developers.

Nominations are now open for the public until 16 February 2018. Eligible entries for the Developer, Development and Design completion categories will be accepted until 23 February, with the final shortlist of nominees announced on 28 March 2018.

Shortlisted nominees will be honored as Winners or given Highly Commended distinction at the sixth annual gala dinner and awards ceremony of the PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards, set on Friday, 27 April 2018, at the Fairmont Makati ballroom.

The black-tie gala will celebrate the successes of the Philippine real estate sector with 300 of the country’s key senior industry figures from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao gathering under one roof.

Hari V. Krishnan, CEO of PropertyGuru Group, said: “We’re excited to see what’s next for the fast-growing Philippine real estate sector. The annual Philippines Property Awards program grows bigger each year – this event is a validation of the developers' achievements and a celebration of their successes as determined by their peers.”

The Philippine real estate industry has greatly evolved over the last few years, with quality projects being launched not just in Metro Manila but also in key provincial cities like Metro Cebu, Metro Davao and even Iloilo and Tagaytay, where previous awardees have hailed.

As noted by the panel of judges, the property industry has remained one of the drivers of the Philippine economy, where the GDP rate is among the highest in the ASEAN region. The adoption of new technologies, including green technology, in the design and construction of structures, as well as global practices in real estate marketing, have also contributed to the rapid growth and evolution of the local real estate service sector.

“The Philippines Property Awards is the benchmark of excellence for the sector. It continues to lead in recognising innovation and emerging asset classes for the benefit of consumers,” said Terry Blackburn, founder and managing director of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards.

“With the addition of new categories to make the awards programme more inclusive, the Philippines Property Awards upholds its reputation of fairness and transparency for all, to celebrate the achievements of the country’s dynamic real estate industry.”

The annual PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards 2018 is supported by media partners Oxford Business Group and PropertyGuru Property Report; supporting associations European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines and British Chamber of Commerce Philippines; and official supervisor BDO, the world’s fifth largest auditing and accountancy firm, represented by co-managing partner Paul Ashburn.

Previous VVIP guests who have attended the exclusive gala dinner include Department of Tourism Wanda Corazon T. Teo, former Senator Franklin Drilon, and former presidential candidate Manny Villar, who accepted the 2015 Philippine Real Estate Personality of the Year special award. A new Real Estate Personality winner, as chosen by the editors of PropertyGuru Property Report, will be revealed before the 2018 gala dinner.

MARRY ME AT MARRIOTT: WHAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT MARRY ME AT MARRIOTT IS STILL THE MOST COVETED BRIDAL SHOW

Last July 24, there is only one common talk of the town that trends on twitter, its no other than  the Marry Me at Marriott Holel – #MarryMeAtMarriottl despite the one week disturbance of typhoons that causes traffics and classes to be suspended in major cities in Metro Manila and part of Luzon.

Prime movers in the wedding industry, most stylish influencers, media personalities across print and online, and soon-to-wed couples, have gathered in this phenomenal event and unapologetic of flooding social media timelines of what you might have missed out.

Staged in the most coveted event address, Marriott Grand Ballroom, Marry Me at Marriott is earned its well-deserved trademark to be the country’s top bridal show - and more - for spectacles, sumptuous spread and surprises that continues to get bigger and better each year.

THE WEDDING MUST-HAVE’S

On its 5th year, Manila Marriott Hotel proved once again its commitment in making grand weddings come to life. Just when you thought you have seen it all, the hotel left everyone in awe of the many tricks they were able to pull up their sleeves.

The opening is already a showstopper: a chic Mercedes Benz SLC bridal car drove down the runway, portraying how every Marriott wedding could start with a grand entrance. Even the last to strut down is a sleek Mercedes Benz SLC convertible driven by the dapper Alden Richards. How they did it? These stylish cars accessed the Grand Ballroom through the two car lifts for a seamless choreography.

In between the plethora of bridal collections, stellar performances exhibited how creative weddings at Marriott could be. First of which is an electrifying aerial dance, an acrobatics from a fabric hung on the Grand Ballroom’s 12-meter high ceiling. While the two dancers the work the fabrics, an 8-tier (height) wedding cake descended from the ceiling, leading to a symbolic slicing of the cake scene. The string ensemble by in-demand wedding instrumentalist, Bernie Pasamba, cued in the dreamy fall of rose petals while endearing little girls walk through it. Just like the first dance of the newlyweds, Manila’s top dance group, G-force, rocked the entire runway with a romantic-to-upbeat flash mob performance. After the finale collection, the trio group Groomsmen gave a hair-raising serenade. Now, those are incredible elements you can include in your Marriott wedding.

RECEPTION TO IMPRESS

Right before the show, guests already enjoyed a feast for their appetites at the spacious foyer of the Grand Ballroom. A long-stretch of appetizers, savories and desserts overflowed for the 1,000 invited guests. Entrees included a handful variations of California roll on an ice-carving, delish canapes, bourbon smoked pork leg, and organic vegetables.

An extra cheese was added to the romantic event on a huge table of locally-sourced cheese paired with German bread, a recipe by their Executive Chef Meik Brammer.

The plush dessert table alone has cakes, cupcakes, homemade marshmallows, macarons, fresh fruits chocolates and vegan bars. And, guests can’t resist swarming Manila’s biggest iron pan filled to the rim of beef stew. Complementing the sumptuous food are endless servings of sparkling, red and white wines.

AN EYE FOR DETAILS

The grand experience began right upon arrival. Guests were dropped off at the West Wing, their newest expansion development that adds 228 premium rooms and suites. Then, they were ushered to the Skybridge, the modern connection between the Main Hotel, West Wing and Marriott Grand Ballroom. Marriott wedding cakes lined up at the Skybridge; each made with fondant, delicately hand-painted and embellished with edible pastillage.

The fragrance of fresh flowers welcomed the guests at the Marriott Grand Ballroom. Today’s top event stylists, Gideon Hermosa, Michael Ruiz and Teddy Manuel – or best known as the GMT, collaborated for the first time in Marry Me at Marriott. The incredible trio designed the opulent floral installations, chandeliers and drapes that accentuated the venue.

The ballroom’s professional high steel platforms and catwalks made the heavy-duty design and lights of the show. All seats are prime with the 3ft by 8ft rise panels to create 8-row bleachers, to provide all 1,500 guests with an unobstructed view of the show.

MOST TALKED ABOUT BRIDAL PARADE

Headlining the bridal show is the alluring mix of collections from famed local designers, Avel Bacudio, Hannah Kong and Happy Andrada and Michael Leyva. Each designer showcased unique style that any bride personality could associate with. Amongst the stunning and towering models were influential celebrities and personalities who walked as muses.

Michael Leyva opened the show with young designer Patty Ang and closed it with a bang with Anne Curtis. Happy Andrada came next with her bridesmaids squad Lorin and Venice Gutierrez, and Janeena Chan.

Most adorable flower girls opened for Hannah Kong, Kathleena Tan (daughter of Kevin Tan) and Aria Gutierrez (daughter of Gutierrez); ravishing ladies closed for her including Maricar Reyes-Poon, Tricia Gosingtian and Olympian Hidilyn Diaz.

Avel Bacudio is the perfect finale with dashing grooms, Sam Wilson and Alden Richards.

MEMORIES FOR KEEPS

As if the entire night wasn’t a treat already, Manila Marriott Hotel partnered with luxury brands for special giveaways as a cherry-on-top to the guests. Four stunning ladies got a bundle of lipsticks from Bobbi Brown, 4 head-stunners received the newly launced perfume products of Jo Malone London, one stylish woman won a salon party from Extraordinail, huge bags of high-quality hair extensions were given by Tokyo Posh, two couples won premium timepieces from Skagen, and one lucky winner won a one-year membership in Club Marriott.

To end the night, four winners were had a “happily ever after” moment as they got the most coveted staycation in Marriott’s 261 sq.meter Chairman Suite at the new West Wing.

Manila Marriott Hotel holds this annual event to give a tease on how committed they are on making every wedding grand in every way. Now you can have yours too, all you need to ask is “Will you marry me at Marriott?

Coca-Cola turns up the volume on OPM music with Coke Studio

Last Night, July 29, 2017 at  SMX Mall of Asia Coca Cola launched Coke studio to help the OPM and its industry to achieve and have their kind of experience needed by the New Generation singing Millenials who are going to be benefited and most likely new bands to have their new fresh touch of the real thing with regards to the technologies in sounds and digital media. The sounds of Pinoy music will get a refreshing taste as Coke Studio opens in the country, bringing a fresh experience for the local music industry.

The first of its kind in the country, Coke Studio is a music TV show that encourages collaborations among Filipino artists – bringing together different musical genres, the young and seasoned artists, and the mainstream with the indie. Coke Studio is a celebration of the rich diversity in OPM and the central unifying role of music among Filipinos.

“Coke has always been about encouraging personal expression among the younger generation of teens, and what better way to unite them but through a universal language, which is music. This is what Coke Studio is all about. We are making music our tool of choice to connect with teens,” said Stephan Czypionka, Coca-Cola Philippines Vice President for Marketing.

Coke Studio also serves as a stage that will showcase and highlight the wonderfully surprising new music that comes out from the collaborations between OPM legends and upcoming artists: Noel Cabangon, Curtismith, Moonstar88, Jensen and the Flips, Sandwich, BP Valenzuela, Gabby Alipe and John Dinopol of Urbandub, The Ransom Collective, Abra, Gracenote, singer-composer Ebe Dancel, Autotelic, Franco, and singer-songwriter Reese Lansangan.

Coke Studio is hosted by OPM powerhouse Raymund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala, both from Eraserheads – one of the country’s most iconic rock bands. More than just a TV show, Coke Studio brings the viewer to the real experience – giving a first-hand, front seat view of the collaboration and how each artist bares their soul in the performance.

“As soon as they started playing their instruments, they just forgot about everything else,” said Marasigan on the experience inside the Coke Studio. “And a great artist will really come out with something, will produce something! Some artists may have come unprepared, but once they were in there, they just brought it out.”

But the Coke Studio experience does not stop there. An interactive Coke Studio truck will roam around the country to give university bands an opportunity to perform and interact with the artists.

Coke Studio is also joining some of the biggest fiestas and festivals nationwide with the Coke Canreaoke – an interactive installation loaded with OPM hits for anyone who wants to showcase their singing prowess.

Coca-Cola Philippines recognizes the strong influence of music in the lives of Filipinos – a unifying thread that goes beyond language and dialect, political views and boundaries, and even religion.

With Coke Studio, Coca-Cola Philippines brings a new taste to the sound of Pinoy music.

Pia Wurtzbach is the new #QueenoftheCentury!

Last Monday , July 17 at the Shangrila Makati ,The Queen of the Universe is now also the Queen of the Century, Century Tuna that is, the country’s number one tuna!  Pia Wurtzbach ever gorgeous TV host, model, and Miss Universe 2015 no less – joins Century Tuna’s outstanding roster of endorsers, as she appears in an all-new TVC that’s oozing with sexiness and elegance!

“We’re thrilled to have Pia Wurtzbach in the Century Tuna family,” beams Greg Banzon, Century Pacific Foods, Inc. General Manager. “Pia is indeed ‘The Queen of the Century,’ the epitome of a mutli-faceted woman who excels in a variety of fields while staying fit and sexy.”

Pia first got bitten by the acting bug at the tender age of four, which later led her to join the Star Circle Batch 11, appearing in a string of television shows and movies. But her real break came when, in her third attempt, she entered the Binibining Pilipinas Pageant in 2015, the stepping stone to her most glorious achievement thus far: bagging the highly coveted Miss Universe 2015 crown – following in the heels of Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973 – in what was a most contentious competition.

Together with, of course, her ravishing looks---her poise, style, and grace—her talents and intelligence, it is Pia’s commitment to self-discipline and physical fitness — just look at her lean and Ultimate Superbody! — that brought her into the Century Tuna fold.

In fact, with a help of a personal trainer, Pia heads to the gym regularly, where she engages in a combination of planking (the best exercise for a flat, toned stomach), tricep pull-downs (for well-defined arms as well as shapely biceps and triceps), as well as squats and lunges (for firm and strong looking legs).

Naturally, a healthy, balanced, yet satisfying diet comes hand in hand with her exercise routine. And for this, there’s nothing else but Century Tuna — the 100% winner in tuna — of which Pia has been a long time fan. “I have a busy schedule and always on the go so when I do have the time to grocery shop or prepare a meal, I make it a priority,” relates Pia, who, unbeknownst to many, studied culinary arts. “I like to enjoy food that keeps my energy levels stable, like Century Tuna.”

Because of Century Tuna’s versatility, where it can be used in a myriad of yummy and nutritious dishes, Pia need not deprive herself while becoming the ultimate superbod. After all, Century Tuna is made of 100% real tuna, rich in Omega 3 DHA, which helps you achieve a healthy and 100% winner superbody, just like hers!

“I’ve always been a Century Tuna girl! And this body you see is made possible by Century,” Pia continues.

No doubt, Pia Wurtzbach has become an inspiration to many and a true role model, the perfect embodiment of Century Tuna’s winning ways and her role as the new Queen of the Century! Hail to the Queen!

Watch out for the coming movie that Pia Wurtzbach is going to have this year...

RCBC reveals “We believe in you” philosophy

Last Friday , July 14, 2017 at Whitespace Makati , Rizal Commercial Bank Corporation (RCBC), one of the leading universal banks in the Philippines, unveils its new corporate logo and tagline “We believe in you,” which signals the start of a new era of providing excellent and trusted banking services for Filipinos. During this days it is just proper to have a financial institution that is concern on the clients or depositors welfare . These are the times wherein many kinds of things happen within the span of seconds.

“This milestone signals the arrival of a more committed, refreshed and re-energized RCBC, that is ready to meet the demands of the ever-changing Philippine banking industry,” said RCBC President and CEO Gil A. Buenaventura.

“We believe in you” is not just a tagline for RCBC, but a battle cry to show our unwavering support and trust to the indomitable Filipino spirit. At the same time, this new corporate thrust is meant to encourage Filipinos not only to dream, but to pursue their passions and dreams, and turn them into reality – whether it’s traveling to your dream destination, venturing into a new business, or purchasing a new home or car,” Buenaventura stressed.

The simpler, younger and more minimalist logo embodies RCBC’s new mission of being more accessible to younger Filipino depositors, who are looking for better ways to save and grow their money, the RCBC president added.

Ces Natividad, RCBC Chief Marketing Officer, reveals that the new logo and corporate tagline are the bank’s response to the changing market.

“We wanted to know what products and services today’s depositors actually need, and we strived to understand what makes them believe and trust a particular bank. We realized that today’s depositors need an approachable bank that responds to their needs, and believes in the value of their dreams and aspirations,” Natividad shared.

“RCBC wants Filipinos to know that the bank believes that there is no limit in the things they can achieve if they decide to start building their future early, especially with a strong banking partner, ready to  advise them every step of the way. We are providing more emphasis to younger depositors, who need more guidance in managing their money,” Natividad added.

Estimates from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed that 1/3 of the Philippine population are millennials. A 2015 Labor Force Survey, also by the PSA, showed that 47.1 percent of the 42 million labor force belongs to the 15-34 age group. This means that more and younger Filipinos need bank services to manage their finances.

Natividad cited a wide array of RCBC products that allow customers to save and conveniently manage their finances. These include RCBC’s Debit Cards, which depositors can get when they open an RCBC savings or checking account. She also emphasized RCBC’s product portfolio which customers can manage online such as the Unit Investment Trust Funds and iSave, an automatic deduction from existing RCBC accounts, done every payroll, which helps depositors to set aside money for future use.

Natividad also cited the unli 0% option of RCBC Bankard, which gives cardholders the flexibility to manage their expenses.

By RSB President & C RommEO Mr.el S. Latinazo (middle). He was joined by RSB Chief Operating Officer Mr. Richard C. Lim and RCBC Chief Marketing Officer Ms. Ces F. Natividad.

The bank’s brand refresh comes as RCBC enters its 57th year of excellent business in the Philippines. The bank reached a consolidated net income of P1 billion in the first quarter of 2017. It also showed more strength as assets increased to P526 billion as of March 2017. RCBC’s total number of branches also increased to 489 while ATM terminals increased to more than 1,500 nationwide as of the first quarter of 2017.

“We are confident that the new brand logo and new corporate tagline, and the re-energized service of the bank, will resonate with more Filipinos. We believe that they can accomplish great things if they put their hearts and mind into it, and RCBC will always be their partner to help them succeed,” Natividad added.
