The MOA signing for Caltex Fuel Your School was attended by (left to right) DepEd Undersecretary Mario Deriquito, CPI Policy, Government and Public Affairs Manager Raissa Bautista, DepEd Regional Director for NCR Luz Almeda, CPI Country Chair Peter Morris, and American Chamber Foundation Philippines President Edwin Feist.

Caltex Philippines through  CHEVRON Intl. helps the nation from having Grades 11 and 12 for this coming season by giving out P1 peso for every 4 liters being gas up by every customer who would make Caltex as their products on every kind of automobile or SUV they have had. This move helping the students of every Nation that they see would need assistance  has been a great help on other Asian countries and maybe one of their giving back on what has been given of them the trust and being widely known products in the world.

Manila, Philippines – In anticipation of the needs of incoming Grades 11 and 12 in 2016 for public schools, Caltex is helping thousands of public high school students in Metro Manila see their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) projects come alive through the Caltex Fuel Your School (FYS) program launched today in Caltex Mabini station.

IMG_6610

“From June 15 to July 15, 2015, we will donate one peso (P1) for every 4-liter fuel purchase made by motorists at participating Caltex stations in Metro Manila. We aim to hit P5 million in this campaign month. The donation will then be turned over to our project partner American Chamber Foundation of the Philippines (ACFP) that is tasked to qualify submitted project proposals as well as the purchase of qualified STEM classroom projects,” announced Peter Morris, country chairman of Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI).

On the other hand, the Department of Education of the Philippines as FYS project partner shortlisted the 33 highest-need public senior high schools in Metro Manila as beneficiaries qualified to receive a maximum of P150,000 per school in STEM classroom materials.

“Caltex Fuel Your School strongly reflects our company’s continued commitment to education. I believe if you take a combination of quality school equipment, passionate teachers, and motivated students, that’s when education becomes very powerful. Through this project, we hope to further empower the teachers and spur the students’ interest to help them excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics,” adds Raissa Bautista, CPI manager for Policy, Government & Public Affairs.

IMG_6596

“This program is a most welcome partnership with Caltex considering that the Philippines is about to implement the senior high school program next year where STEM is given equal importance along with other tracks. The donation answers our need for additional equipment to give adequate training and preparation to our students,” said DepEd Regional Director for NCR Luz Almeda.

FYS project partners estimate that at least 700 teachers and 9,000 students from the senior-ready public schools will benefit from the FYS program.

Driving FYS through Social Media

Aside from supporting the program via fueling at Caltex, the FYS partners also invite the public to help the schools by viewing and liking their favorite schools’ qualified projects as posted on the Caltex Philippines Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CaltexPhilippines or via www.caltexfuelyourschoolph.com . The FYS leaderboard in the website will be regularly updated to reflect ranking of the projects that generated the most to least likes. Projects will be funded in the order of their July 15 leaderboard rank. The top three projects with the most number of fan likes at the end of the FYS campaign will each receive an additional brand new laptop as bonus prize.

The program also encourages social media users to help the schools get their STEM wish list by promoting their projects online. Chevron, for instance, has an ongoing FYS awareness volunteer campaign among its employees, retailers and other business partners by urging them to create selfies and groupies using FYS props and posting them as their Facebook profile photos during the FYS campaign period and sending the FYS PH link so their own FB friends can also vote.

“It has been one of my dreams to see my students in a well-equipped laboratory room where they conduct experiments, manipulate the microscopes and discuss their findings. I’m just so glad this can become a reality through Caltex Fuel Your School,” said Cecilia Santiago, science teacher from M. Araullo High School in Manila.

ACF President, Edwin Feist shared “Caltex Fuel Your School is a wonderful program that helps bright and talented students who do not have sufficient funds to support themselves. We’re certainly delighted to work with Chevron in this innovative campaign to promote STEM education to local schools where assistance is highly needed,”

Caltex Fuel Your School is part of Chevron’s Energy for Learning Initiative, which supports educational programs that create opportunities for individuals to acquire new knowledge, gain new skills and be exposed to different ways of thinking.

For more information about Caltex Fuel Your School, visit http://www.caltex.com/ph/fuelyourschool or contact the FYS hotline at 399-2505. Vote and help promote a FYS classroom project via Caltex Philippines Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CaltexPhilippines.

Music fans flocked to the event grounds of the historic Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park at the inaugural MTV Music Evolution 2015 on Sunday, 17 May as a stellar line-up of international and local acts took to the stage in celebration of iconic and contemporary hip-hop music. Through explosive performances by Naughty by Nature, YG, Apl.de.ap, DJ Cash Money, and the Philippines’ own Gloc-9 and Abra, MTV Music Evolution 2015 showcased the way that hip hop has shaken up the music scene throughout the years – taking the music genre to whole new levels for a live audience of over 22,000 fans.

IMG_3246

The show was hosted by an energetic mix of both MTV Asia VJs Alan Wong and Hanli Hoefer as well as MTV Pinoy VJs Yassi Pressman and Chris Schneider and opened with one of the Philippines’ most iconic rappers, Gloc-9, who took the crowd through an intense 5-song set against the backdrop of a neon-lit skyline drawn against the stage. He kicked the show off with his hits Upuan and Sumayaw Ka. The crowd especially came alive when he went into the fan favorite Sirena – followed by an inspiring tribute to the country’s late “Master Rapper”, Francis M. The tribute was done through the song Stars and Sun, and Gloc-9’s moving rendition of Francis M.’s very own Kaleidescope World, where fans raised their glow sticks in union to create a sea of light that surrounded the stage.

This breath-taking performance was followed by the Philippines’ hottest hip hop act, Abra, who took the stage with Loonie and Ron Henley. Abra and his crew, Lyrically Deranged Poets, brought the intensity up with immense energy levels and jaw-dropping wordplay all throughout a medley of 6 songs. Abra’s set took off with the Poor Country and AP3, and was on fire with his performance of Cerberus, which was aptly accompanied by a pyrotechnic display and a giant fireball at the end.

Filipino pride Apl.de.ap put on the kind of performance that proved that he was truly home. Opening his set with a mash-up of Here We Go and Philippine favorite Bebot, Apl.de.ap showed a perfect balance between his Grammy-award winning Black Eyed Peas flavour and his homegrown character. He then led the audience through wholehearted performances of The Apl Song and together with Jessica Reynoso, they performed Be; and got the crowd jumping upon the start of I Gotta Feeling. The set then wrapped up on an epic note with Abra and Loonie heading back on stage to perform the world-famous Where is the Love? along with Apl.de.apand Jessica Reynoso.

DJ Cash Money then took the stage in a lit-up geometric DJ booth that illuminated the center of the stage. He brought some of his new school flavor and fused old school tunes into the mix, getting the crowd moving in unison amidst a spectacular array of lasers. He put forth an obvious love for the genre of hip hop with a fantastic combination of iconic hip hop tunes and gave the crowd a full-blown taste of where the genre came from as well as a look into where it is headed.

Next up was Billboard Hot 100 hip hop Artist, YG, who took the edge of the West Coast with him to Manila and to the stage of MTV Music Evolution. YG opened up his set along with DJ Goofy 500 and Slim 400, who performed BPT along with him. The trio then went into an energetic 15-song medley that included YG’s popular hits My Hitta, Don’t Tell Em, Who Do U Love, and I Just Wanna Party.

Wrapping up MTV Music Evolution 2015 was the iconic Grammy-award winning act Naughty by Nature who took Manila through a hip hop time warp via their famous and timeless songs like O.P.P., Hip Hop Hooray, Uptown, Craziest, and Feel Me Flow—old school hip hop hits that hyped up a crowd of all ages. Showing some Filipino love, the hip hop icons appeared on stage wearing custom-made shirts bearing the words ‘Filipino by Nature’. The group who performed for the first time ever in the country, also made sure to deliver more than a fair share of timeless slogans, giving a toast to Tupac Shakur to further emphasize how hip hop carries on all throughout generations. The Philippine crowd was more than pleased with the group even expressing their support for Philippine boxer Manny Pacquiao and took things leaps and bounds further by showing their respect for the Filipino brand of hip hop by giving the crowd a snippet of their rendition of Francis M.’s Kaleidescope World.

MTV Music Evolution 2015 wrapped up with all iconic and current hip hop artists taking the stage to the background of a breath-taking explosion of confetti, with Naughty by Nature proclaiming alongside their fellow hip hop artists, “This is history in the making!”

Last Sunday May 3, 2015, people of the Bantayan Island in Cebu who have passed through difficulties in life through a devastating storm called Yolanda  has somewhat experience having some time of relaxation and be entertained as Manny Pacquiao their Champion fought in the ring the most awaited fight to Floyd Mayweather.

The Island of Bantayan witnessed for the first time the country’s boxing hero’s latest fight during a live public screening of the Fight of the Century on Santa Fe Bantayan Island, Northern Cebu. While the town was rooting for the ‘People’s Champ’, unfortunately the result left Manny Pacquiao defeated.

              DSC_4053                       DSC_4062

The first-ever public screening in Bantayan Island was made possible by British life insurance company, Pru Life UK in support of every Filipino fighter from all walks of life. Continuing their commitment to restoring the community after typhoon Yolanda, they aim to inspire locals as they continue to fight to restore their livelihoods and communities.. All municipalities of Bantayan Island come together for the first time to witness Pacman’s conquest over Mayweather live on Sunday, May 3.

Bantayan Island was one of the worst-hit islands in the country caused by the devastation of Super Typhoon Yolanda claiming the lives of more than 6,000 people. After almost two years since the destruction, the island together with the affected provinces in the Central Visayas region is still recovering through the joint efforts of charitable organizations and Pru Life UK’s Prudence Foundation. The Foundation has provided livelihood and rehabilitation to the people of Bantayan Island for the past year; aiding almost 90 per cent of the population with their substantial needs.

“We know how hard it was for the Bantayan people to get back on their feet when they have lost almost everything.” said Antonio deRosas, president and CEO of Pru Life UK. “Pru Life UK and our charitable arm, Prudence Foundation, is committed to restoring the beauty of the island especially the locals who had to face tough battles in the past. This is why we wanted to bring the much-anticipated fight to the people of Bantayan Island, We strongly believe that this will inspire them to fight against difficulties and succeed in making life better, just as much as they inspire us.”

Pru Life UK also brought live coverage of the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight in 10 communities in Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Batangas, Quezon, Albay, Aklan, and Northern Samar. In Bantayan Island, the match was aired in three municipalities of Santa Fe, Madridejos, and Bantayan.

See, Listen, and Play this Labor Day at NUVALI

IMG_2401

Last Friday , May 1, 2015, Labor Day, NUVALI, in partnership with Cinema One, brings the NUVALI Night Sky Cinema, an entertaining outdoor film-viewing event that gathers friends and loved ones to an open-air, free to the public  festival-like movie experience unlike no other.

It was on the middle of the day , 3PM when we together with my Mommy blogger friends with their kids arrived and see how people wanted to enjoy the day even under the rays of the Sun. This is one of a kind of experience which they are doing once a year and it was full of children and parents whose main objective is to make their family bonding more fun and entertaining.

                    IMG_2407

IMG_2416 IMG_2412

Aside from movies and multiple band guests are some of the plays that a child would want to experience and soaked in.

IMG_2426

Listen to live music acts, from the likes of Up Dharma Down and other popular local artists such as: Jason Dy and Kai Honassan of the The Voice, Moonstar 88 and The Ransom Collective. Join, too, in other fun activities such as kite flying, and giant playgrounds, food trucks, and so on.

This time around, the NUVALI Night Sky Cinema offers three brand-new selections from both the local and international scene, designed to celebrate love, life, and everything in between.

Leading the three movies is the highly successful That Thing Called Tadhana, the hugot-filled film responsible for reviving Sagada sabbaticals and the Whitney Houston hit, “Where Do Broken Hearts Go?”

The Cinema One Originals film, starring Angelica Panganiban and JM de Guzman, and directed by Antoinette Jadaone, is the down-to-earth story of Mace Castillo and Anthony Lagdameo, two people in the wake of their respective breakups, their spontaneous journey north to Baguio and Sagada, and their conversations and insights on life and love along the way.

Following this is the comedy-drama-musical Begin Again, starring Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley, and directed by John Carney of Once fame.

The film, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song (Lost Stars), follows Gretta James, a songwriter, and Dan Mulligan, a record label executive, whose lives become intertwined through their common passion for music, their collaboration blooming into a renewed love for music and life. Concerts and recording sessions are set in different rooftops, basements and alleyways around New York City, which provide a warm backdrop to the music produced by the duo.

Last but not least among the three is the Siege Ledesma-helmedShift, another Cinema One Originals film, which explores thoughts on friendship, gender, and love.

The film, starring Yeng Constantino and Felix Roco, tells the tale of Estela, a call center agent whose relationship with her co-worker Trevor, becomes a complicated mass of emotions when she finds out he, the object of her affections, turns out to be gay. Amidst the confusion is a story of youth and its struggles: decisions, career, relationships, anxieties, and so on.

The NUVALI Night Sky Cinema, first launched in 2013, is an outdoor screening event that highlights NUVALI’s vision of bringing people together, in wide spaces and under the open sky, for fun activities that are best enjoyed within and around nature.
